Mystic Forest Fashion Show – Heating up the Woods

The Memorial Park Arboretum has been closed for remodeling (of the forest… and parking lots. They added a pond or two!) for much of this year. To celebrate the opening of the park, When Words Collide put on a fashion show near the Nature Center. They called upon some of Houston’s favorite local designers, Miles David, Isrel Fonseca, Danny Nguyen and Engomichu as well as jewelry designer, Dayana Lander.

As usual for these events, the people were fashionable and the party enjoyable.

The first designer of the night was Miles David, showing off a bit of summer mysticism that the night had to offer. Dresses that flowed and breathed with subtle tones and adornments that made for a gorgeous start to the night and something straight from a fairy tale.

That was followed by the upbeat contempo of Isrel Fonseca’s┬áResort 2018 Collection. According to Isrel the collection “…embodies the IF Girl on her voyage to a tropical island where she embraces the colors of colorful fruit and majestic birds of paradise. The collection explores a relaxed silhouette while still emphasizing the waistline. You get hints of safari with all the details of pockets and epaulets. Strategically accessorized with silk pashminas and custom jewelry you get the perfect modern twist of casual glamour.”

These pieces were a flash of color to liven up the night!

Following the intermission, the show moved to the stylish works of Danny Nguyen Couture. Danny’s Spring/Summer line is the Grand Frontier, based on a trip to Yellow Stone and Grand Titan, inspirations from the flora and fauna of the area make for wearable art.

We closed the night with the summer vibes of Luis Astengo’s Engomichu summer collection. Engomichu brings traditional Peruvian craftwork into his modern designs to make an unforgettable collection this summer.
